– Statement issued by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) –
On the first anniversary of the martyrdom of the heroic fighter and commander Yahya Al-Sinwar (Abu Ibrahim):
The flame of the Flood will not fade, and the blood of the martyred leaders strengthens the path of resistance for generations to come. We renew our pledge to remain steadfast on their path and loyal to their sacrifices and journey until the liberation of the land and sanctities.
A full year has passed since that heroic epic witnessed by the world, led by the Commander of Al-Aqsa Flood battle,
the martyred commander Yahya Al-Sinwar,
who sealed his life and struggle-filled journey of jihad and sacrifice by advancing courageously, standing firm in the heart of battle, raising his stick high, defying the tyranny and crimes of the occupation.
A year has passed since the martyrdom of this great national leader. Through the patience, steadfastness, and resilience of our people, and the strength and bravery of our Resistance, a national achievement and an agreement were realized that thwarted all the occupation’s plans in its aggression against our land and people.
It resulted in ending the aggression, genocide, starvation, displacement, and ethnic cleansing, and achieved a prisoner exchange deal titled The Flood of the Free, through which 1,968 Palestinian captives breathed freedom, shattering the arrogance of the Zionist jailer.
On this first anniversary of the martyrdom of the heroic fighter Yahya Al-Sinwar, we proudly recall his noble biography and blessed journey.
He lived his life as a fighter since his youth—steadfast and unyielding, overpowering his jailers during his 23 years of imprisonment, and continuing the path of preparation, building, and planning after liberation until the dawn of October 7, 2023, when he humbled the occupation, shook its entity, and shattered the myth of its army—ascending thereafter as a martyr on the battlefield, engaged and unbowed.
We affirm that the martyrdom of brother commander Yahya Al-Sinwar, and before him all the movement’s leaders and symbols who walked the same thorny path of struggle for liberation and return, will only increase the movement, our people, and our Resistance in strength, determination, and steadfastness in upholding their approach, continuing on their path, and remaining loyal to their blood and sacrifices.
The flame of Al-Aqsa Flood will remain burning, pulsing with the spirit of adherence to rights, principles, and national unity. Its blaze will not be extinguished in the hearts of our great people, no matter the sacrifices or the power and crimes of the occupation.
True to the covenant of the martyred leaders—the banner shall never fall. It will remain raised high, carried and defended by every generation of our people until full liberation and the establishment of the independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.
On this first anniversary of your martyrdom, O Abu Ibrahim, rest in peace. You fulfilled the trust, truly striving in the path of humbling the enemy, breaking its arrogance, humiliating its leaders, and shaking the pillars of its false entity.
Though your pure body is absent from the soil of Gaza, your soul soars through the skies, filling the universe with the truth that the blood of martyrs writes everlasting glory for Palestine and the Ummah. The enemy has failed to achieve its aggressive goals on the land of proud Gaza and was forced, humiliated, to cease fire—retrieving its captives only under the will and conditions of the Resistance.
Mercy, glory, and eternity to the soul of the heroic martyr commander Yahya Al-Sinwar (Abu Ibrahim) and to all the convoys of martyrs from among the leaders and sons of our people and our Ummah.
We ask Allah Almighty to grant them the highest ranks of Paradise among the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous—what an excellent companionship that is.
