Regarding Hamas’ response to the proposal of U.S. President Donald Trump
Out of keenness to stop the aggression and the genocidal war being waged against our steadfast people in the Gaza Strip, and stemming from national responsibility and our concern for our people’s constants, rights, and higher interests, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has conducted in-depth consultations within its leadership institutions, broad consultations with Palestinian forces and factions, and discussions with brotherly mediators and friends, in order to reach a responsible position in dealing with President Donald Trump’s plan.
After thorough study, the movement has made its decision and delivered the following response to the brotherly mediators:
(The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas values the Arab, Islamic, and international efforts, as well as those of U.S. President Donald Trump, aimed at halting the war on the Gaza Strip, enabling captive exchanges, ensuring the immediate entry of aid, rejecting the occupation of the Strip, and rejecting the displacement of our Palestinian people from it.
In this context, and in a manner that ensures an end to the war and the full withdrawal from the Strip, the movement announces its approval to release all occupation captives — both living and bodies — in accordance with the exchange formula contained in President Trump’s proposal, with the provision of field conditions necessary for the exchange process. In this regard, the movement affirms its readiness to immediately enter, through mediators, into negotiations to discuss the details.
The movement also reaffirms its approval to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body of independents (technocrats), based on Palestinian national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic backing.
As for what was included in President Trump’s proposal regarding other issues related to the future of the Gaza Strip and the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, this remains subject to a collective national position, based on relevant international laws and resolutions, to be discussed within a comprehensive Palestinian national framework, in which Hamas will participate and contribute with full responsibility).
