Background and personal life: Bahaa Yousef Shibrawi, "The Knight of Tulkarem", was born on July 23, 1980, in the Nour Shams Refugee Camp. He entered the life of resistance at an early age, with a deep love for jihad. Bahaa is the brother of the martyr hero Abdelqader Shibrawi who ascended to martyrdom on September 4, 1992.
Bahaa was arrested by the occupation forces multiple times in his life. The first time was in 1994 for a period of 6 months for resistance activities against the enemy. Bahaa discovered himself to affiliate with the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine during the Al-Aqsa Intifada after meeting like-minded comrades who led him to join Saraya Al-Quds. After a series of qualitative operations targeting the enemy, Bahaa soon became wanted by the occupation forces. Shibrawi was then abducted on October 4, 2001, and was charged for his affiliation with Saraya Al-Quds and involvement in multiple qualitative operations against the enemy.
While Bahaa was in prison, he was deprived of bidding farewell to his beloved mother when she passed away. Out of love for his mother, the mourning Bahaa wrote:
"My greetings to you from my yearning heart... You who have inhabited my soul, before and after our parting.
My greetings to that grave which enfolds your pure body... My greetings from my wounded heart to you, who were dearer than heart and soul.
My greetings to your eyes, on whose lashes I stand, slain... You who would ease my burdens with a smile and heal all my wounds with an embrace.
Without you, life has no flavor. What can bring light back to one whom absence has blinded?
Mother, I have become like the leaves of a tree, scattered by the winds of longing wherever they please. At times, I am atop the hills of your love; at other times, silence slays me at the doorstep of your grave.
Who, after you, can revive me? You, whose absence kills me a thousand times every day."
Today, he walks free, but his camp, Nour Shams camp, remains in ruins as part of the ongoing aggression in the northern West Bank. His relative Abood Al-Shibrawi was recently abducted by the Palestinian Authority as part of the aggression.
