📆 Exactly nine years and one day ago, elite fighters of the Qassam Brigades in Gaza achieved what the world thought to be impossible, but to them was the culmination of relentless training: the capture of IOF soldier Hadar Goldin.
Goldin and his unit of invaders were taking part in a zionist ground invasion of Gaza near Rafah, a violation of the ceasefire that the treacherous occupation had signed hours beforehand in the midst of the 2014 assault on Gaza. The zionist unit was ambushed by fighters of Al-Qassam, who yesterday revealed that the martyr Walid Mas’oud liquidated the unit’s communications officer. At least two IOF soldiers were killed in the ensuing clash.
In one coordinated moment, Goldin was cut off from the orders of his command, and subsequently his unit. He was taken by the elite Qassam fighters, and in their words, “swallowed by the tunnels of Qassam.”
The zionists responded by shelling Gaza indiscriminately, hoping to shed Palestinian blood and kill their own captured soldier pursuant to the Hannibal Directive. They failed to do so, and nearly two hours later, the leadership of Al-Qassam Brigades revealed their news to the world. Yesterday, the Brigades revealed Goldin’s dog tags.
On this day, we remember that resistance is the only path forward to liberation. It was the Palestinian resistance who on August 1, 2014, in the midst of death and destruction, restored hope and dignity to their people by striking with capability against the enemy.
